This past weekend I was going through something and for some reason I couldn't think of who to talk to. I felt so burdened, I knew I needed to talk to someone. This is unusual for me because i always avoid talking about my problems. You know, they say it is unattractive to burden people with your problems. They say you have to fake the funk and act like all is well, even when it isn't. Anyway i was desperately in need to be heard and i needed to talk to someone (forget faking the funk). But who would i call? Whoever it was would need to know the whole story, which i was not willing to share. So I knew it had to be a family member and i called up my aunt. To say i was disppointed would be an understatement. All my aunt gathered from our conversation was that i have emotional problems and need help. Lol (actually it's not funny). I didn't even get upset. I was just in shock and knew i would be blogging about it. It got me thinking...Do i behave like my aunt? Are people worse off after confiding in me? Can my friends and family confidently come to me for advice, knowing that even if i can't physically help, that atleast i would stand by them. Or am i one of the people they have crossed off their list to ever confide in? Sometimes, all that is needed is a simple, "I understand what you're going through". Sometimes, people just want to be heard. That's all! All you can do for them as a friend/confidant is to listen, not pass judgement.
Ephesians 4:29-Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Obviously i will have to think twice and hard before i ever confide in my aunt again. Probably won't even go to her for advice again.
Tip: If you ever find yourself burdened or in distress, seek Godly counsel please!
Anyway, after the drama with my aunt, I got dressed and headed to my friend's wedding.
Someone recently blessed me with this dress. I was so touched! I love when people randomly think of me and do something nice for me. Absolutely love this dress.
That's all folks!
