Study to Shew Thyself Approved

Ever come across the verse in 2 Timothy 2:15 that says " study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." It's one of my favorite verses and one that i struggled with for a long time. I always knew that I had a heart for God, but I hardly spent any time reading the Bible. As a result, I couldn't really evangelize or defend God's word. I knew how to pray and worship, but i had little knowledge of the word. I think one of the reasons was that i found it difficult to understand the King James English (don't judge me. lol). Anyway, I found out about the NLT Life Application Study Bible on Heather Lindsey's blog (love Heather btw) and I'm enjoying reading my Bible! If you have the same excuse that i did for not studying the word, sorry! You can't use that excuse anymore. I've given you another option :)

I'm also reading a lot of Christian books. I'm actually reading 3 books currently.

The Christian Atheist- saw a post on it on my newsfeed on Facebook and it got my attention. According to the author, a lot of us are Christian atheists. We claim to know God, but deny him by our actions/behaviors. We claim to love God, but we worry, we don't trust Him, we are afraid to tell people about him. yep, I agree!

The Five Love Languages- I absolutely love this one. I actually read the married edition first. The married edition blessed me so much that I passed it on to a good friend of mine and then bought the single's edition. According to the author, there are 5 love languages- Words of Affirmation, Gifts, Acts of Service, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. Everyone has their primary love language. The more fluent you are in speaking your significant others' love language, the more loved they'll feel, and the happier the both of you. I actually think this "theory" is applicable to everyone. I use it on my family daily. Since reading this book, I try to figure out the love languages of people around me and I try to speak them. For example, My mum's love language is Acts of service. Just do dishes, clean out her room/bathroom, offer to run errands and you'll see her glow. Seriously! Both of my sisters feel loved when they receive gifts. My little brother, on the other hand, falls between quality time and words of affirmation. No wonder we get along so well! I'm very fluent in both languages. Hehe..

SO, You Want to be Married- Another great book. It talks about honoring God while courting, the beauty of being single, dangers of worldly dating etc. Cornelius, the writer, is married to Heather Lindsey, founder of Pinky Promise. Check out her blog. I love them both and support their ministry. I have their books, pinky promise ring, about to order my teeshirts and bracelets. Yep, I'm a fan.

Anyway, That's it!
Next up " Not a Fan" recommended by a friend.
