God Looks At The Heart

When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, "Surely this is the Lord's anointed!" But the Lord said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for i have rejected him. The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1st Samuel 16:6-7

Thank God for this revelation! This gives me so much hope. Often times, i try to measure up to other people's idea of holiness, and find that i always fall short and start to condemn myself. Anyone that knows me knows that i absolutely LOVE God. You only need to spend 5 minutes with me to realize this. It is this love i have for God that motivates me to pursue a holy life. Your obedience to God should stem from the love you have for him and not because you want to measure up to anyone's definition of holiness. God will use who he wants to use. He doesn't focus on what we focus on.
